Mazzucchelli’s Jewellers have been around since 1903. Founded by watchmaker Matthew Mazzucchelli, and a jeweller Sam Downes in Boulder, Western Australia, just outside Kalgoorlie, the business has risen to become a national retailer with to 35 stores coast-to-coast. The jeweller currently operates in five Australian states and territories.
Mazzucchelli’s specialises in selling designer jewellery and watch collections that include Vera Wang, Tag Heuer, Forevermark, Halo, Promise and Rand Diamonds. They also market a range of exclusive and rare pink diamonds. Mazzucchelli’s is a popular store with gift-givers, romantics, the newly engaged/soon-to-be-married and those simply looking for something beautiful to compliment their wardrobe.
Originally a family run business, Mazzucchelli’s has been able to grow and thrive on word-of-mouth, quality and reputation alone. In early 2020 it soon became clear that traditional store locations would face interrupted trading due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A situation which meant stores needed to be less crowded with physical distancing in place. When Australian lockdowns were put into place in many states, a shift to eCommerce and online selling was needed, and fast as an alternative for many of the Jeweller’s dedicated customer-base.
As a result The Animals worked rapidly to bring the change. Creating a site that integrated eCommerce Shopify features, but also had bespoke programmed items that went well beyond the standard. We added opportunities for more imagery, content spaces and blog sections. The site was also extended to include promotional offers and code redemption, robust security, fast fulfilment, and educational content to assist jewellery shoppers with sizing – something that many shoppers often struggle with when purchasing online.
Mazzucchelli’s eCommerce Shopify website has been highly profitable since week one, and continues to go from strength-to-strength as a sought after digital retail location. This is testament not just to the steadfast loyalty of Mazzucchelli’s clientelle during the 2020 pandemic, but also the carefully thought through strategic and creative work undertaken by the Mazzucchelli’s team and The Animals.
