Every so often a project comes along that adds a bit more meaning and purpose to what you do every day. For The Animals team, Mantle Health has been that project. Formed by three leading Psychologists, Mantle are an organisation that are serious in their mission to make a difference to Men’s Mental Health in Australia. They’re also passionate about using the power of technology to achieve it, so when they came to us with their ideas, we were justifiably excited.
So why the focus just on Men’s Mental Health? It might not be common knowledge, but a lot of guys are suffering in silence out there, and that’s something Mantle is out to change. According to Beyond Blue statistics, one in eight Men will experience depression and one in five will experience anxiety at some stage of their lives. Their numbers also confirm that an incredible 6 in 8 suicides a day in Australia are Men. As a group, they tend to tough it out, bottle it up and are the very last to stick their hand up and get help.
With Mantle’s Psychologists we’ve been exploring not only how to create a simple, accessible, positive user-experience for Men needing Psychology services, but also embed technology in a way that’s non-intrusive and doesn’t make Men think twice about using it. Make no mistake, Mantle is not a crisis line (ie. like LifeLine) – but for us at The Animals, if we can build a better way to assist men with what’s going on in their lives well before a crisis occurs, then we’re all for it. We’re certainly hoping the site we’ve created, and the highly motivated team of professionals that are becoming part of it, transform and reshape lives.
Here’s a quick snapshot of what we’ve packed into the site, and some elements of the campaign we’ve launched to support it:

- A user experience that makes using the platform simple for both clients and Psychologists alike.
